Daniel Polsby — Dean of George Mason’s School of Law — on the CIPP
Daniel Polsby, the Dean of George Mason’s School of Law, started off the conference filling us in on their Critical Infrastructure Protection Program. They gave us three books containing a history of CI Protection and two books of papers from George Mason.
CIPP
The CIPP was started in 2002 and was, to his knowledge, the largest grant to any law school ever given. It also may be the largest Critical Infrastructure Program in the world. Their mission is simple, they want to integrate while looking at laws and public policy so that they can do timely analysis that leads to actions. They are researching fields of Cyber-Security, Information Security, and Risk Management. As you can see, their work is very relevant to my interests and to the college as a whole. They deal with the Department of Energy and the Department of Homeland Security. Finally, they produce the CIP Report. The Critical Infrastructure Protection Report is a monthly publication of papers from the University keeping the world updated on what they are doing. I signed up to receive this publication and will most likely be posting on it later. Overall, it was a great start to the day, but the best was yet to come.
